.bungkus - Where Plastic Gets A Makeover

.bungkus is on a mission to make the world a little greener, one upcycled product at a time, turning used plastics into something practical and stylish, and they’re having a blast doing it.

You've probably come across .bungkus (visit their instagram profile) at least once by now — whether it’s through their products stocked at FIFTH, Unplug, or their cool collabs and workshops with brands like Vans, bump5, Snackfood, and many more. Naturally, we couldn’t resist hitting them up about doing a collab. As we brainstormed for the collection, we had the opportunity to visit their workshop — the place where all the magic happens.

Nestled in the industrial hub of Sungai Buloh, .bungkus finds its home within a double-storey warehouse, where the innovative hub breathes life into discarded plastic bags through an upcycling process that is nothing short of impressive. But getting to this point wasn’t easy. One of the biggest challenges .bungkus faced was overcoming the inconsistency in materials, as they source waste from different groups.

Through hours of research and development, countless trials and errors, the team figured out how plastic waste interacts with one another during the processes. As creativity meets craftmanship, skilled artisans measure, cut, and stitch compressed sheets of plastic into stylish bags, pouches, holder, wallets, and more.
